Why a heat pump?

An air source heat pump is up to 3–4× more efficient than a gas boiler

An air source heat pump draws heat from the outside air, even in the depths of winter, to warm your home and your hot water. For every unit of electricity it uses, it delivers several units of heat, so running costs are lower and your carbon footprint is far smaller.

  • Works year-round, even through a Scottish winter
  • Eligible for up to £7,500 Home Energy Scotland grant funding
  • Quiet, low-maintenance and built to last
  • Pairs well with solar PV for even lower bills

Air source heat pump FAQs

Will a heat pump keep my home warm in winter?

Yes. A correctly sized and designed system provides comfortable warmth all year round, even when it's below freezing outside. Our MCS design process starts with a heat loss assessment of your home, so the system is matched to what your home actually needs.

How much is the Home Energy Scotland grant?

Eligible homeowners can receive up to £7,500 from Home Energy Scotland towards an air source heat pump. We'll confirm your eligibility and manage the paperwork as part of your installation.

Do I need new radiators?

Not always. Heat pumps work most efficiently at lower temperatures than a boiler, so a few radiators sometimes need upsizing to keep rooms comfortable. We'll tell you exactly what's needed during your free survey, so there are no surprises.

Can I combine a heat pump with solar panels?

Yes. Running your heat pump on electricity from your own solar PV panels cuts running costs even further, and many of our customers install both together.
